It was humid, it was hot, really a shower beforehand was a waste of water - but what fun it was. Yancey Sr and I sat back tonight talking about how great it was and what sweet friends we have to sit through that heat for us - - - we love you!
So, which funny story about today do I tell? Well, let me choose to tell the one about the Flart - yes, that's what I said Flart. My darling friend Rebecca is so precious to take John Brady's "special" qualitities into account when purchasing his Birthday present and included some nasty concoction that is slimy and when pushed just right into the can makes a sound that can only be described as.....flllluuuuuuuuppppp. Okay, you get the picture - it's called Flart.
Yancey Jr and John Brady both LOVE it. They are saying, Mom - I gotta go to the bathroom - FLLLLAAARRT. Of course, I am so naiive and I just keep saying, well go!
The party is over, and someone had to have mentioned this to my husband because he says, "Baby, I am making hamburger helper for the kids, but I am going to get you a special dinner"As soon as he says it, my heart jumps and I think Pieworks!!! but alas, someone had mentioned crawfish at the party and he was headed over the bridge to get the best crawfish in the twin cities - but i won't tell you where they are, because i am afraid there wont be enough left for us.
so, he returns and since the kids have eaten and are playing in the big jumper which is still sitting outside so we enjoy our crawfish! YUMMMM!!!!
But before we were done with our first tray of crawdaddies, john brady had gotten his bright lime green/yellow flart ALL OVER HIS SHIRT. Okay, let me give you a picture, our hands are COVERED in spicy crawfish, Yancey Jr is in the jumpee, Nancy Claire is inside trying to find her underpants that she has misplaced for the fourth time in three hours, and John Brady is freaking out because part of his Flart is on his hands, part on the ground but a good chunk of it is on his shirt!!!!! So as always my SuperHusband/SuperDaddy saves the day and gets a stack of paper towels and gets it off. No harm, no foul - back to eating crawfish, back to making nasty sounds for the boys, back to searching for panties for Nancy Claire.
Oh, but the night doesn't end there!!! The party was just starting to get started.
It was Bath Time and mom decided to LOSE HER MARBLES and said "sure" when Yancey said that he wanted them to all bathe together. Which would have really been a fun easy thing if it hadn't been for the fact that they had all just been given about 2-3 waterguns each for their bathtime.
And Mom enters from left stage and - pow pow pow - triple shot. I was just trying to get into the bathroom to start cleaning the kids - bam bam bam - now I am the one who is wet. The kids are having a blast and kept having one, but as the saying goes "IT's all fun and games until someone gets hurt" and sure enough, they decided it would be funny to all jump out of the tub naked and wet with their waterguns and chase mom through the house - mom's smart enough to lock the doors but Daddy doesn't know what's coming around the corner - but ha ha ha kids don't know a stranger is standing in their kitchen!!!!!
They all head back to the bathroom and BAM Nancy Claire slips on the bathroom floor and hits her head. The party is over as far as she and her momma are concerned. But somehow this message did not get through to her brothers who kept shooting me with water while I washed and rinsed her hair.
aaaaaahhhhhhhh - typing about it leaves me with more breath than i had running around during and after it!!!
All in all it was one of those that at the end of the day you say, "I LOVE MY FAMILY. THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST DAYS EVER!!!!"
Thank you precious Heavenly Father for an incredible day for our precious son John Brady! We should have days to celebrate our family as a whole - and we are making plans to do that!
Gotta get to bed - Brother David is coming to preach tomorrow morning!!! I hope I get a chance to just say hi!
